Is the band playing in the Free Credit Report.com a real group or actors?

The lead singer is an actor named Eric Violette. THERE IS NO BAND, IT'S ALL FAKE, HE DOES LIPSYNC!

He's lip-synching in the commercials to "Dave Mulhefeld, the songwriting phenom behind the über jingles and senior copy writer at The Martin Agency - the same advertising masterminds behind the Geico gecko and caveman." and "Dave Mulhefeld admits that first commercial is somewhat autobiographical. What's more, he did work in a fish restaurant and drive a used subcompact - though a nicer one than the blue beater featured in the commercial. Mulhefeld says the next set of FreeCreditReport.com commercials are inspired more from YouTube comments than his past." (all phrases in quotes copied from www.newsvine.com)

Freecreditreport.com has a Facebook page called the "Freecreditreport.com band official site" which has garnered thousands of "friends". Since there is no band, this is just another scam set up by the company to get free advertising and some free email addresses (for spam purposes) from people who think they're friending the band. On this Facebook page, FCR even go so far as to pretend there is a band by corresponding with fans who write on the wall. For instance a fan wrote asking if the members of the band would be at the MTV awards. FCR's "Roadie Jack" (official keeper of the Facebook page) responded "no, because the band has another engagement"!!!

The above is not totally accurate. Eric is a singer songwriter and is actually singing on the commercials. Yes, they are not an actual recording band, but they are musicians in their own rights.

As for the Facebook page, it isn't a scam page. People know that it isn't them answering back, just like it isn't Mayhem answering everyone on Allstate's page. That would be like going to the the Quaker Oats page and thinking that the Quaker Oats man is answering you.
