Can you get bitten by a spider in animal crossing new leaf?

Sometimes a Tarantula or a Scorpion will spawn in town. These will chase and bite/sting you if you disturb them, but all that really happens is you wake up again outside your house. The issue is you're meant to catch at least one each for your encyclopedia and for the museum, and if they get you, you'll have to wait until another one appears.
