Has anyone caught a mew in the Pokemon series?

In Generation 1 (Green, Red, Blue, Yellow) players can catch an unlimited number of Mews by exploiting a glitch (permitted they have a Pokemon with a special of 21).

In other games it's highly likely that people have (even though these glitches have been closed off in Gen 2 and later), via Nintendo events.
