Can i connect two PS3's by ethernet cable to play friend on separate tv's.?

Yes you need a crossover cable to do so. It's just a simple cat 5 cable with two wires crossed on each end. This allows the ps3's to communicate directly. There for no other external devices ( hub, switch, router) will be needed. From there you simple configure your network settings on each ps3.
