If you wear soft lenses, don't wear them for 5- 7 days before the surgery. If you wear hard lenses then its suggested to not wear them for 6 weeks before surgery and an additional 6 weeks for every 3 years you have worn then. Recovery is fairly quick for any surgery.

I'm sure you would know and be required to anyway but routine is you need to have your eyes examined before Lasik so they can determine the thickness and shape of your cornea to map out the surgery.

Patients are typically given an antibiotic beforehand to minimize the risk of infection after the procedure. Once the surgery is completed, more antibiotics and anti-inplammatory eye drops are given and to be taken for weeks after. You are told to sleep as much as possible and given special goggles to protect your eyes. Improvements are seen within the first week and your eye is almost completely healed after 6 months.
