Could you explain the short story about effie by thomas findley?

I think that Effie's father died in a War during a thunderstorm, so maybe she thinks that he would come to see her. That would kinda explain why she keeps on crying and she probably misses him. Maybe the reason that she is waiting for him, because he might have told her that he will come back for her and he never did, so that is why she is still waiting for him.
