Why are 9V batteries much bigger in their physical appearance than their AA or AAA counterparts?

The reason why 9V batteries are much bigger in their physical appearance than their AA or AAA counterparts is because of the fact that 9V batteries have to supply a greater current rate of electricity than the aforementioned batteries.
