Extremophiles inhabit some of the most inhospitable environments on Earth, including deep-sea hydrothermal vents, highly acidic or alkaline lakes, and polar ice caps. They can also be found in extreme temperatures, such as hot springs or Arctic regions, and in high-salinity environments like salt flats and salt mines. Additionally, some extremophiles thrive in the vacuum of space or within the harsh conditions of deep underground rock formations. These organisms have adapted to survive in conditions that would be lethal to most life forms.
