they are sedatives like alcohol,valuim,opiates,quaaludes,etc.. they interfere with your central nervous system keeping you relaxed. these actions disrupt the normal flow and levels of your own bodies natural sedatives and tranquilizers such as the hormones seratonin, dopamine, epenepherine, and, endorphins.take away the barbiturates someone is used to taking and the places where the barbiturates bound in place of the bodies hormones are left empty with the body unused to making what is now needed and the normally stored hormones needed for a stressful event or a time requiring an higher level than normal are not there. remember now there are some of these hormones depleted as i just explained but some have been being made in large quantities with the body conditioned to making much higher levels than ever needed unless there was a chemical being taken to counteract there effects, such as barbiturates. the out of balance own bodies hormones now wreak havoc on the person causing mood swings, the bodies temperature control disrupted causing chills, sweats, goose pimples, muscle cramps with possible organ or brain damage.
