What causes an enlarged prostrate?

An enlarged prostate, known as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), is primarily caused by hormonal changes associated with aging. As men age, testosterone levels decrease, leading to an imbalance with estrogen, which may stimulate prostate cell growth. Other factors, such as genetics, obesity, and certain medical conditions, can also contribute to the enlargement. While BPH is common and not cancerous, it can cause urinary symptoms that may require management.
