To find top dead center (TDC) in a Nissan 200SX, first remove the spark plug from cylinder number one. Then, using a wrench, rotate the crankshaft clockwise while placing a finger over the spark plug hole; you’ll feel air pushing out when the piston approaches TDC. Continue rotating until the timing marks on the crankshaft pulley align with the TDC mark on the timing cover. At this point, the piston in cylinder one is at its highest point, indicating TDC.
