Green plants release oxygen through a process called photosynthesis. During this process, they absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and water from the soil, using sunlight as energy to convert these into glucose and oxygen. The oxygen is released as a byproduct through small openings in the leaves called stomata. This process not only provides oxygen for living organisms but also helps regulate atmospheric carbon dioxide levels.
