Why is the rubber hose under the gas tank of a Honda Rebel dripping gas for?

This is the fuel hose, also called the fuel line. It carries fuel from the gas tank to the carburetor. It has clearly become detached or loose and you should make sure to stop the leak before riding the bike. It is very dangerous to have gasoline leaks in a motorcycle.
