A domestic animal diagnosed with Heart disease should be on a good quality diet with lower levels of sodium and possibly slightly higher levels of potassium. You should also watch the amount of protein in the diet and keep it on the low end of the acceptable range, as heart disease often spills over into kidney disease and excreting nitrogenous waste from excess protein is more work for the kidney.
