Why is Wenatchee called the Buckle of the power belt of the Great Northwest?

The Power Belt of the Pacific Northwest refers to the series of hydroelectric dams along the Columbia River. Since Wenatchee is located near the middle of this stretch of dams, it is referred to as the "Buckle" of the Power Belt.
