There are two OVAs. The first is called Tsuiokuhen (Remembrances). This is broken into four episodes of 30 minutes each, called Kiru Otoku (The Slashing Man), Mayoi Neko (Stray Cat), Yoi Satoyama (Dawn at the Mountain Village) and Juuji Kizu (Cross Shaped Scar). ADV turned the four episodes into two movies called Trust (Kiru Otoko and Mayoi Neko) and Betrayal (Yoi Satoyama and Juuji Kizu).
Remembrances covers Kenshin's training years under Hiko Seijuro XIII and his time as a hitokiri for the Choshuu Ishin Shishi. It also reveals the origin of his scar and the reason he refuses to kill.
The second OVA is called Seisouhen (Reflections). It is divided into two episodes with no titles. The first part depicts Kamiya Kaoru patiently awaiting the return of her wayward husband. She goes to the docks every day, only to return to the dojo disappointed that Kenshin isn't yet back from wandering. Their son, Kenji is bitter toward his father and has left for Kyoto to train under Hiko in hopes of mastering Hiten Mitsurugi Ryu.
