Where do toy poodles come from?

The breed originated in Germany, their name comes from a German Word for puddle, 'pudel'. There's evidence that the miniature variant originated there too, though the Toy variety was established in England.

They are commonly associated with France because they became very popular there with aristocrats and royalty alike. However the breeds did not originate there, and were just as popular in England and Spain too.
