1) Ensure that the barge has no leak.

2) Check the anchorage, both main anchor and ropes.

3) Check the barge load capacity. Over loading will impose danger.

4) Check the machine condition. Ensure that its has enough fuel and oil for entire trip. Be sure to have extra in case for in case.

5) Ensure to have proper fire fighting equipment on board.

6) Ensure to have enough life saving equipment and devices.

7) Ensure that all navigational equipment & gauges are working properly.
