How many tons can a 12 yard dump truck hold?

Depends on the density of the material and the configuration of the truck, as well as the tare weight of the vehicle itself. You might be able to fit over 20 tons of a commodity into a 12 yard bed, but you'd almost certainly be well over the vehicle's legal gross weight.
