Eastern kingbirds primarily inhabit open areas such as fields, pastures, and edges of forests, as well as along roadsides and riverbanks. They are commonly found across much of North America during the breeding season, migrating to central and southern Mexico and Central America for the winter. These birds prefer habitats where they can easily spot insects, which make up a significant part of their diet.
