FAT12 is not exclusively a Windows file system, but it is one of the variants of the FAT (File Allocation Table) file system used in earlier versions of MS-DOS and Windows. It is primarily designed for small storage devices, such as floppy disks, and supports a maximum volume size of 12 MB. While later versions of Windows (like Windows 95 and onwards) support FAT16 and FAT32, FAT12 has largely been phased out in modern operating systems.
