How do you comfort a pet?

My answer is: Sing to them, be around them, and comfort them as if they're your child. Treat them like they just woke up from a scary nightmare. Or lost their favorite toy. Or if they had lost a family member like my dog Duke. So comfort them like you would a child. And remember, if they get in trouble think, should you yell at your pet whether cat, dog, dolphin or whatever, after they've lost something very important. Don't do it. So please comfort them.

Another answer: It depends on the pet and the reason they need comfort. Dogs are different from cats for example, and you will notice that humans differ as well. Some people need to be alone when they are sick and others like company. You know your pet best and most pets will let you know if they need company, a quiet place alone, petting, a treat, or some play.
