A Security Camera: A Good Thing?

You hear it all the time, big brother is watching. Sometimes he has to watch. Information obtained from a security camera is extremely valuable. Security devices play a quiet, behind the scenes role in helping to catch the bad guys.

Banks have security camera’s and we see photos on the news all the time of a person who robbed a bank. The person may be wearing a disguise, but even with that disguise a friend or family member may recognize the person and phone the authorities.

Many cities and towns have exterior security cameras around their jails and courthouses. Businesses have security cameras in the parking lots. If someone is abducted in a parking lot, one of the first things law enforcement does is to find out of they have security cameras. Cameras provide information that even witnesses don’t always get correct. If 10 people witness a crime, they all might have a slightly different take on what the person looked like. A security camera has the real evidence, and it may also be able to pick up the license plate of the vehicle the person used.

Security cameras are being used at home. Working parents, who have a nanny taking care of their children, are turning to video security to make sure nothing bad is happening at home. There have been cases where parents saw their nanny violently shaking their baby when they reviewed the tape from the surveillance camera.

You may suspect that your babysitter or nanny may not be taking the best care of your child. Set up a camera in the child’s bedroom and another in the living room. You will find out very quickly if your suspicions are valid.

If you home is located far from town and you are alone many nights during the week while your husband travels on business, you should have a few security cameras around the outside of your home. You should do anything that you can to help protect yourself and your family.
