Were sewing machines used at home or in factorys?

Both. Models at home are not that different than the factory version. How do you think most clothes are made? They are made in factories with sewing machines - you could search the net and you would see pictures of rows upon rows of people sitting at sewing machines in factory making shirts and jeans etc.
