How do you test for hyperactivity and ADHD?

There is no single specific test. Diagnosis is made on the basis of history, current symptoms and clinical observations. There are a number of diagnostic tools, ranging from questionnaires or interviews about frequency of symptoms, behavioral checklists filled out by the person or a caregiver (parent or teacher), and some neuropsychological tests such as the Continuous Performance Test.
