How were many of the Caribbean Islands Formed?

Many of the islands were formed by volcanoes. Once the volcano stopped erupting, life was allowed on these islands. Also, sometimes it's the volcanic ash that creates the island. Thanks for reading! This is my first answer. Please rate.
