Why did abu bakr invoke jihad?

Abu Bakr invoked jihad primarily to unify the Arabian Peninsula and consolidate Islam after the death of Prophet Muhammad in 632 CE. Many tribes were abandoning Islam or refusing to pay zakat, leading to the Ridda Wars (Wars of Apostasy). By declaring jihad, Abu Bakr aimed to restore order, maintain the integrity of the Muslim community, and ensure the continuation of the Islamic state.
