What are the major body plans of plants and animals?

Plants usually have root systems, shoots (aka stems/trunks and branches), and some form of leaves or needles. (Even a cactus has this, the leaves are very big and bulky and the stem is very very short).

Animals usually have a head, a torso (thoraxicsection, the chest area), abdomen (belly section, just below the thoraxic sections), and some have tails. Most have limbs, the exception would be snakes.
