In the US Army in WW2, the typical Infantry Division contained 3 Regiments. There were no Brigades. Each Regiment consisted of 12 infantry companies that were formed into 3 Battalions.

During WW1, the US Infantry Division had 4 Regiments divided into 2 Brigades.
