Will a bad fuel injector cause gasoline to come from the tailpipe. my 1998 Nissan maxima cut off and gas was coming out of the tailpipe. what could the problem be?

I am certainly not a car expert but the most logical explination to me seems to be that you have a valve on the exhaust side of one or more of your cylinders stuck in the open position. Any way you play it, it is most likely not good. It may also depend on what type of fuel injection system you have.
