How do you use italics with exclamation marks?

Most standard typewriters don't have italics, unless you switch the set of hammers out with italic font completely. Instead, type what you want italicized, then backspace to the start of the Word and underline it with the underscore key ( _ ). Underlining is the best way to make a Word stand out when typing on a typewriter.
