In my experience most young children see auras because they are there.

As the children grow up, when they share the news they can see "things," they are often told by disbelieving adults that what they see is not possible, or make-believe or whatever.

The tone of voice and general air of disbelief/dis-approval, tends to make the child doubt their own ability.

The more negative reinforcement a child receives the more likely they will stop believing in their talent.

A child reared in a household that recognises and accepts the existence of auras and other such things does not stop beilieving and therefore does not stop seeing as they age.
