There were several flaws to the Articles of Confederation.
- There was no executive branch, meaning that there couldn't be a leader to guide the country
- There were 13 different currencies, which would be extremely difficult to trade with.
- Difficult to ally: In order for foreign countries to ally with the United States, they had to sign 13 treaties, from all the colonies.
- In order to amend the article, there had to be a unanimous vote.
- Optional taxation: Nobody wants to pay taxes, so they didn't. The government began to lose money and couldn't support itself.
- Weak central government: The federal government could not control the states as states were more powerful than the federal.
