How long has the B-52 bomber been in existence?

The B-52 has been flying since 1952. In service with USAF since 1955 - and there are plans to keep it another 15 years ! - I once met a B-52 G pilot whose aircraft was 10 years older than him, and he said to me "this old lady will probably outlast me".
