How do you get more horse power out of a 5.7L 1997 gmc z71 pick up?

you could start with a different prom chip for the engine computer.or add on a new k and n air filter for a slight pick up.rebuild engine with high performance heads.bore out .030 over for pistons,different crankshaft.or just put a little better cam in truck for quick pick me up hp.
