Should you tip the cleaning lady?

it is customary (in the U.S. at least) to leave a dollar a day for the cleaning service in hotels (either left each day, or all at once upon check out). more may be given for an especially good job, if you were particularly "messy," or if the maid provided you with some custom service (such as, made sure there was a snack and beverage on your night stand for when you returned to the room each evening). some may also arrange to have the tip added to the bill for reimbursement reasons or for added security.
