Why scientist are looking for alternatives fossil fuels?

B/c burning fossil fuels releas a lot of carbon monoxides and pollutants into the atmosphere, which many suspect may interfere with our climate.

On top of that, fossil fuels will one day run out. It'd be quite handy to have made the switch to something else before that happens.
