Does what a person reads affect his or her character?

It depends on what the person read and if they believe in it or not. For example, if someone reads a book about people who kill and they agree with it, they may have an urge to do something bad or kill someone or something. Another example is if a person is rood and they read a book about love and agree with it, they may have an urge to love.

Then again, if you decide to do something bad because of something you read, you are a complete idiot(no offence). Really, i mean it.
