Some people have said that The Bible is important because it is God's love letter to us; and that is not far wrong. But let the Bible assert itself - in the first chapter of John's gospel and the first verse -

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

'the Word' here is both Jesus Christ and the Bible.

Answer:

The importance of the Bible will be made clear to all the nations on Judgment Day, when all the generations of man will resurrect and live again. At that time, the "books of the Bible" will be opened -- the Truth of which shall be revealed to all men... and they shall discover that the Bible is going be the "measuring stick" by which God shall judge their life's works.

"...I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened... and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works." (Rev.20:12)

Jesus tells us: "...He that rejecteth Me, and receiveth not My Words, hath one that judgeth him: THE Word that I have spoken, THE SAME SHALL JUDGE HIM IN THE LAST DAY." (John 12:48)

The pertinent Words that Jesus has spoken were "inspired" to be written down -- both for those whom God is calling out of the world in these last days -- as well as for all men on Judgment Day.

"...behold, I come quickly; and My reward is with Me, to give every man according as his work shall be." (Rev.22:12)

The god of this world has blinded man to the global [or rather, universal] importance of God's Word. Man has subsequently marginalized God's Word into a mere "religious category" [or myths and fairytales]... thinking that it's only for the beliefs of a few.

But, Judgment Day will be a shocker to ALL THE WORLD, when the dead, small and great, stand before the One who "spoke those Words into existence" -- and discover that their acceptance or rejection of them [and Him] will determine their futures.

Primarily, in whether they cry out to Christ for His Mercy and Forgiveness... or defy the Lord and utterly refuse to bow to the Creator of man.

"But those Mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and SLAY THEM BEFORE ME." (Luke 19:27)

That doesn't sound at all like the Jesus this blinded world claims to know. But to those who open the books and read them... they can know Him [before the Last Day].

Those Words sound pretty important -- to everyone -- not just a "religious few."

It's all there, in those books... though few folks [past or present] know of the Truth they wield. But the world will know the importance of the Bible then, in the Last Day, when Jesus from His "Great White Throne" cries out: "...If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink. He that believeth on Me, as the scripture [the open books before you] hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of Living Water." (John 7:37-38)

The world that rejects the marginally important Bible, today, will be weeping and gnashing its teeth when "the books are opened" to judge it.
