How may deaths have occurred due to herpes simplex virus?

The Herpes simplex virus is not a fatal disease. The Herpes Simplex 1, or fever blister, can be transferred from one person to another by a simple kiss. The Simplex 2 virus, or genital herpes, can be transmitted by unprotected sexual contact with someone who has the virus when it is in its contageous form.
