Why was World War I in Gallipoli?

it was a mistake that the war was in Gallipoli because the English and ANZAC troupes actually landed in the wrong place. It was however ambushed because many countries were trying to take over the Dardanelles. a channel of water located east of turkey. the channel was ideal for transport of supplies.
