Is the scientific name for a meteor meteor?

An object that we see streaking across the sky is known as a meteor, or shooting star, but when this same object is in space, before hitting Earth's atmosphere, it is known as a meteoroid and if it survives its fiery entry through the atmosphere and lands on the earth it is now known as a meteorite.
