How did Ulysses escape the sirens?

Ulysses escaped the Sirens by having his crew plug their ears with beeswax to block out the enchanting song. He, however, wanted to hear their melody, so he had himself tied to the mast of the ship, instructing his men not to release him no matter how much he begged. As they sailed past the Sirens, he was captivated by their voices but remained restrained, allowing the ship to safely navigate away from the danger.
