How do you remove the ignition lock actuator rod on a 1995 Ford Taurus?

I am going through the same thing on a 2003 taurus. this is really a pain in the rear. As far as i can tell, i need to remove the entire steering column. I am out of daylight today and as soon as i get done I will post the results here.
