Unfortunately, there are no home remedies to abort a psychedelic trip or even reduced it in intensity. However, several categories of prescription drugs can be used to either help you calm down or even abort a trip completely.
The anxiolytic Benzodiazepines such as Xanax(Alprazolam), Seresta(Oxazepam), Valium(Diazepam) and Temesta(Lorazepam) as well as the hypnotic Benzodiazepines such as Normison(Temazepam), Rohypnol(Flunitrazepam) and Noctamed(Lormetazepam) can be used to help you calm down and take away the anxiety experienced during a bad trip. Benzodiazepines won't effect the visual character of a trip, but it will greatly reduce any psychological effects commonly experienced during a bad trip, making it much easier to just ride out the trip.
The newer, so called "atypical" antipsychotics such as Seroquel(Quetiapine), Risperdal(Risperidone) and Zyprexa(Olanzapine) and the older "typical" antipsychotics such as Thorazine(Chlorpromazine) and Haldol(Haloperidol) can completely abort a psychedelic trip, and they once were the first line of treatment in emergency rooms for psychedelic bad trips. However, due to the side-effects associated with antipsychotics, the preferred treatment for a bad trip in hospital settings nowadays are IV anxiolytic Benzodiazepine (usually Diazepam or Lorazepam) and supportive treatment.
Home remedies such as sugar water, cholocate or sweets to stop a bad trip unfortunately are nothing more but folklore, however for a person who doesn't know this, the anticipated effects of taking these remedies can be enough to calm him/her down purely through placebo effect.
So in short, taking 10-20mg of Diazepam or 1-2mg of Alprazolam, or an equivalent dose of another Benzodiazepine is going to be the best and most effective way to get someone through a bad trip, plus most households have a bottle of them laying around.
