Data usually refers to the amount of time you can spend streaming, downloading, etc. On your mobile phone. Unlimited data is no limit to how much you can do on your phone. (May not include tethering to a computer). Sometimes called "Smartphone Plans."

Unlimited data useage or high data useage plans are strongly recommended for smart phones (iphones, BlackBerries) because they are incredibly data-hungry and normal plans would either max out or cost the user a very high bill.
