Gambling was legalized in Nevada in 1931, at that time the Nevada Hotel, built in 1906, was renamed the Sal Sagev (Las Vegas backwards) Hotel. It was the first casino in Las Vegas, at that time the Meadows Club opened for business.

License no. 1 was a test license and no place officially received that licence) the
Northern Club received No. 2 and is considered the 1st Gambling License in Nevada. (the same building is now called La Bayou but has changed hands over six times since 1931 so does not hold the original license any longer)

Las Vegas Club (old one, not same as today's) now defunct
Meadows Resort now defunct
Rainbow now defunct, (not the same as rainbow club in Henderson many years later)
Big 4 now defunct
Railroad Club now Railroad Pass casino halfway between Las Vegas and Boulder City now owned by MGM resorts but still has the original license No 6 which is now considered the oldest still existent gambling license in the state of Nevada.
Exchange Club now defunct
