Doctors give patients these gowns for many reasons.
- When getting weighed the doctors don't want the extra weight of your clothes
- It's easier to prod at your body with the gown. instead of keeping that extremely heavy and comfy sweater on you will have to put on that thin blue gown
- If you are given a exam that calls for a doctor to exam parts of your body that are under your gown it also helps guard the rest of your body
- The nurses don't want to see your body running through the halls. Weaker patients with IVs probably can't put on regular clothes so instead of Wrestling with jeans you get a nice thin gown so you can move from place to place.
- Also, they are disposable. The gowns are thin so they are easier to throw away. The medical staff doesn't want to cross contaminate your flu with someone who has a very weak immune system
