Who organized the theology of the Christian church?

Doctrinal development (theology) began immediately in the early Church with the preaching of the Apostles. The Bishops and theologians down through the centuries have all contributed to it, with certain famous theologians such as St. Augustine standing head and shoulders above the rest.
