How many guns have been made this year?

There is an estimated 8 million 'small arms' made per year (that is just hand guns), global reports on all "guns" are not listed by number of arms but are instead listed in Billions of dollars in value.

The USA is the worlds largest provider of guns, at 70.15% worth around 30 Billion dollars per year, 63% of these exports were delivered to 'developing countries.' Please note the figures given, and the links below, are for exported firearms only and do not include domestic figures.

...Though many anti gun activists and 'articles' have stated there are easily more guns than people in the United States alone. This appears to be a fairly good gauge to measure the ratio of guns to people who could make use of them.

I would point out that the popular gun known as the "AK-47" has been produced in numbers estimated between seventy-five to one hundred million units, and this is only one of hundreds of known gun models.

Given there are such numbers of these weapons, and many have been produced since the beginning of the 20th century, it would be next to impossible to accurately predict how many actually exist, albeit those even usable.

When you bring up statistics you normally want to use them to prove a point or to elicit some reaction or knowledge gaining experience for someone. I would quickly point to the idea that guns are merely a conduit for a powerful and deadly kinetically based weapon of mass destruction. The bullet. Of which there are untold billions in every caliber you could dream of. I would not want to personally know the answer to how many bullets there are to human beings, it would be too depressing...
